The Kadela washing station is named after the river that flows through the area. Owned and operated by Worku Buche, a seasoned coffee professional with over two decades of experience, Kadela is part of a family-run network that includes four additional wet mills and a dry mill across Sidama. Smallholder farmers cultivating heirloom varieties at elevations between 1,900 and 2,200 meters above sea level deliver their ripe cherries to Kadela, where meticulous natural processing brings out the region’s signature vibrancy.
This naturally processed coffee showcases the lush terroir of Sidama with a fruit-forward profile. Expect a juicy cup with notes of pomegranate and blueberry, complemented by a subtle sweetness and a clean finish. The careful drying of whole cherries on raised beds under Worku’s supervision ensures consistency and clarity in every batch .
This coffee truly shines in any brew method. For pour over, try a 1:16 ratio and a kettle temperature of 203°. For espresso, try a 1:3-3.5 ratio with a boiler temp of 204°. Happy Brewing!
